What is Dedicated Server Hosting?

Dedicated Server Hosting involves leasing a whole physical server from a Internet Service Provider (ISP). The server is housed in a data centre which usually has an uptme service level agreemtent (SLA) of 99.95% or better on power, air and data. Data centres also provide redundant power sources and HVAC systems. In contrast to collocation, the server hardware is owned by the provider and in some cases they will provide support for your operating system or applications (managed dedicated server hosting). With dedicated servers the host provider maintains the physical hardware and will often offer a 4 hour hardware replacement SLA in case of hardware failure.
